{"id":258,"date":"2013-10-17T19:29:46","date_gmt":"2013-10-17T19:29:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mayohomeopathy.ie\/?p=258"},"modified":"2018-03-01T17:11:41","modified_gmt":"2018-03-01T17:11:41","slug":"drugs-medicines-homeopathic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mayohomeopathy.ie\/index.php\/drugs-medicines-homeopathic\/","title":{"rendered":"Sshh, most medicines are homeopathic"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Medicines are Homeopathic in Action<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Most medicines are homeopathic, i.e. they cause the very symptoms for which they are being employed to treat! I&#8217;ve often been baffled by pharmacists and doctors who say homeopathy, treating like with like, doesn&#8217;t work.\u00a0I then explain that medicine itself is full of homeopathy as the following examples of drug actions show. The main critics of homeopathy though aren&#8217;t necessarily people in the medical field but<\/span><!--more--> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">journalists and others like them who are less qualified than doctors to comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">If we are to have sense about science in medicine we have to have the mindset of a scientist which requires objectivity, openness and a desire for truth. The North American Indians had a saying, &#8220;I won&#8217;t judge a man &#8217;till I&#8217;ve walked a mile in his moccasins.&#8221; The skeptics should at least review Hahnemann&#8217;s discoveries and contributions to medical science\u00a0&#8211; in theory and practise &#8211; before judging. Then they will be worth listening to, but not until.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Lexapro<\/strong>: (For anxiety and depression):\u00a0psychiatric side effects including insomnia (9%), somnolence (6%), decreased appetite (3%), and decreased libido (3%) have been reported.\u00a0Abnormal dreaming, yawning, increased appetite, lethargy, irritability, and impaired concentration have been reported frequently.\u00a0Agitation, jitteriness, apathy, panic reaction, aggravated restlessness, nervousness, forgetfulness, attempted suicide, aggravated depression, feeling unreal, excitability, emotional lability, abnormal crying, depression, anxiety attack, depersonalization, suicidal tendency, bruxism, confusion, carbohydrate craving, amnesia, nervous tremulousness, and auditory hallucinations have been reported infrequently.\u00a0Aggression, acute psychosis, and visual hallucinations have been reported; however, a causal relationship with escitalopram (the active ingredient contained in Lexapro) has not been determined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Nexium<\/strong> (a PPI to treat excess stomach acid): Gastrointestinal (GI) side effects have included bowel irregularity, aggravated constipation, dyspepsia, dysphagia, dysplasia, epigastric pain, eructation, esophageal disorder, frequent stools, gastroenteritis, GI hemorrhage, rectal disorder, increased appetite, anorexia, ulcerative stomatitis, and vomiting.\u00a0 Pancreatitis has also been reported.\u00a0 Postmarketing reports of microscopic colitis have been received.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Efexor XL <\/strong>(For depression and anxiety): Nervousness, agitation and anxiety,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Seroxat <\/strong>(A drug used for anxiety, panic and depression): Agitation, confusion, hallucinations, Anxiety and panic attacks, mania, unpleasant or distressing restlessness and inability to sit still.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Risperidone\u00a0 <\/strong>(A drug for ADHD, Aspergers). Agitation, anxiety, sleeplessness, <em>extreme<\/em> <em>restlessness<\/em>, involuntary movements, and uncontrollable speech symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Ativan\u00a0(Lorazepam)\u00a0 <\/strong>is used to\u00a0sedate patients and ease anxiety preop. However, looking <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rxisk.org\/Research\/DrugInformation.aspx?DrugID=149&amp;ProductDrugID=3795&amp;ProductName=Ativan#3_0_0_0_0__--__\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/span>, you can see the greatest side-effect reported is anxiety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Epilim<\/strong> (for epilepsy)<span style=\"color: #000080;\"> <a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rxisk.org\/Research\/DrugInformation.aspx?DrugID=4454&amp;ProductDrugID=-8500&amp;ProductName=Epilem#7_0_0_0_0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">causes<\/a> <\/span>epileptic symptoms such as convulsions, epilepsy, clonus, muscle spasms, muscle tightness &#8211; the very symptoms it is supposed to treat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Zovirax <\/strong>(for Herpes) causes herpes eruptions according to <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rxisk.org\/Research\/DrugInformation.aspx?DrugID=1&amp;ProductDrugID=1579&amp;ProductName=Zovirax#8_0_0_0_0__--__\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rxisk.org<\/a><\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/4\/4e\/Bottle_of_%27Papine%27%2C_London%2C_England%2C_1890-1920_Wellcome_L0058548.jpg\/180px-Bottle_of_%27Papine%27%2C_London%2C_England%2C_1890-1920_Wellcome_L0058548.jpg\" alt=\"Medicines like cures like drugs homeopathic\" width=\"140\" height=\"187\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Opiates &#8211; bad painkillers<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Opioids <\/strong>are used for pain relief but they are accepted as being &#8220;poor pain killers.&#8221; For example, here&#8217;s a quote from Rxlist.com, &#8220;Another opioid, propoxyphene, while a popular choice for pain relief, may have little effect in some patients.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Cancer drugs <\/strong>are many and often cause cancer according to the <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.com\/health\/breast-cancer\/DS00328\/DSECTION=treatments-and-drugs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mayo Clinic website<\/a><\/span>: &#8220;Side effects of radiation therapy include&#8230; second cancers in the treated area.&#8221; &#8220;Chemotherapy side effects&#8230;blood cell cancer.&#8221; &#8220;Medications that block hormones from attaching to cancer cells&#8230;include tamoxifen, raloxifene (Evista) and toremifene (Fareston)&#8230;\u00a0risks include blood clots, stroke, uterine cancer and cataracts.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Isn&#8217;t that interesting? Why don&#8217;t opioid pain-killers work? Hahnemann could show us in his proving of <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"http:\/\/homeoint.org\/books3\/kentmm\/op.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Opium<\/a><\/span>\u00a0(Kent&#8217;s description (<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"http:\/\/homeoint.org\/books3\/kentmm\/op.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">also here<\/a><\/span>)). Because the corollary of the law of cure\u00a0Hahnemann discovered is that a drug doesn&#8217;t cause a symptom (i.e. if a symptom is not within the pathogenesis of the drug&#8217;s action) then it can&#8217;t remove that same symptom in a sick person. Opium is a poor pain-killer because it doesn&#8217;t cause pain, thus proving that only like cures like, the law of cure as discovered by Samuel Hahnemann which he called Homeopathy (<em>similar suffering<\/em>).\u00b9<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Most medicines work because they are actually homeopathic, the drugs&#8217; effects, direct effects\u00a0(and not the misnamed &#8220;side-effects&#8221;) have a direct relation to the symptoms to be treated. Proper homeopathy works more rationally by treating the totality of symptoms rather than reducing disease to a local phenomenon as in orthodox Allopathic medicine which results in suppression usually. Sadly, a lot of &#8220;side-effects&#8221; are not always listed as revealed in this month&#8217;s <em><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/news\/secrets-of-trial-data-revealed-1.13913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nature<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/em>journal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Now, are you starting to get the picture? I could of course go on and on but maybe it&#8217;s time to be skeptical\u00a0about the sceptics and revisit Dr Hahnemann with a scientific frame of mind. Why not read Hahnemann&#8217;s <em>Theory of Chronic Disease <\/em>and his <em>Organon<\/em> (<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.minervabooks.co.uk\/index.php?route=product\/manufacturer\/info&amp;manufacturer_id=276\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available here<\/a><\/span>)?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Update<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">1.
