Below is my response to an article by Sarah McInerney in The Sunday Times (12/04/20), insisting all should be vaccinated, whether they want to be or not, with references I’ve used at the end.
Sarah McInerney (Comment, April 12) thinks we should be forcibly injected with foreign proteins and viruses irrespective of our wishes! No more bodily autonomy or “my body, my choice.”
She’s happy the BCG could protect against Covid-19, but ignores the fact HIQA recommended the cessation of it, citing “side effects.” The number of mumps cases this year is five times the whole of last year, she tells us, but a refusal to vaccinate doesn’t explain such a difference within six months. Again, Sarah forgot to acknowledge our mumps epidemics occur in universities; in those who have had their MMR!
On the HPV vaccine, it’s too early to verify its effectiveness, but, on the contrary, there are reports from the UK, Australia and France that cervical cancer among those vaccinated has increased.
Why does she not see why healthcare workers (including doctors) refuse the flu jab, even when bribed with a box of chocolates or a €100 voucher for electrical goods?
But here’s a thought on MMR: yes, people die – aborted for their cell lines in order to make it; and “In 1983, a questionnaire was completed by almost 3,000 Irish schoolchildren (aged four to 19 years); this was repeated again nine years later. The researchers found that in 1983, asthma prevalence was 4.4% and that over the subsequent decade, the rate had increased to 11.9%.” What happened in the interim? The MMR was introduced in 1988. Then, as the number of vaccines increased and at younger ages, “Prevalence in 13 – 14 year old school children increased by 40% between 1995 to 2003 (15.2% to 21.6%) (HSE).”
To encourage vaccine uptake, education, proof of safety and effectiveness will work better than emotional blackmail or force.

In Ireland, in common with other developed countries, the prevalence of asthma more than quadrupled between the 1980s and 2000. In 1983, a questionnaire was completed by almost 3,000 Irish schoolchildren (aged four to 19 years); this was repeated again nine years later in the same age group. The questionnaire screened children for asthma-like symptoms, eczema and hay fever. The researchers found that in 1983, asthma prevalence was 4.4% and that over the subsequent decade, the rate had increased to 11.9%
The initial Irish study showed that asthma prevalence in 13-14 year-olds was 15.2% in 1995 and by 2007 had risen to 21.6%, a relative increase of 33%.
